The cause of the plaque formation may be due to metabolic factors, auto-immue, genetic or trauma. The mainstay of initial treatment is through the use of an ultrasound scanner, where we can identify the locations of plaque for targeted therapy Focus Shockwave Therapy.

We have found Focus Shockwave therapy to be an excellent treatment, offering a significant reduction in pain and a shrinkage in plaque formation.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

We recommend 6-8 sessions which can be administered weekly over 6-8 weeks or twice per week over a shorter period of 3-4 weeks.  This very much depends on the chronicity of the condition.

There is a mild discomfort only during and after treatment.  We recommend going about normal everyday life without restriction.

Where there is benefit, it makes sense to stay on top of the condition.  Repeating treatment after 6 months is recommended for most cases.  Short bursts of treatment can improve the trajectory of the condition and help maintain functionality and minimal pain.
