Diagnostic Ultrasound Scanning

Diagnostic ultrasound is as accurate as MRI scanning for most musculoskeletal disorders and can be used as an alternative because it is non-invasive and due to technological advancements, it is quick to perform.  It works by using high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within the body.  Ultrasound scans are highly accurate in diagnosing conditions such as patella tendon pain, rotator cuff tendon syndrome, ligament tears, muscle tears, Achilles tendon pain and joint pain. Using diagnostic ultrasound as part of your evaluation and rehabilitation has the benefit of being highly safe to use, with no known side effects, reasonably priced, and rapid to perform—you won’t have to wait weeks for your results.

If you are suffering from pain, and you are unsure about the diagnosis, or if you have already had treatment, and you are not getting better than an ultrasound scan might be the best solution.  Ultrasound is primarily used to scan all body parts excluding the spine, neck, and head.

Ultrasound scanning is available at both our Swansea and Reading clinics.

Aftercare Plan

Once you have had your ultrasound, we can diagnose you with the issue and then look at what the best possible options are for treating your condition. The prognosis will give us an idea of a time frame for recovery, which is essential for athletes and clients who need to return to work.
